The productions have often brought people together across great divides, including police officers and former prisoners, Israelis and Palestinians, and British soldiers and former members of the IRA. Performers have included refugees and immigrants, survivors of war, victims of domestic abuse, parents who have lost children to inner city violence, and spouses struggling with the challenges of aging and dementia.

Theater of Witness was founded by artistic director, Teya Sepinuck, and is a project of CultureTrust of Greater Philadelphia.
