Why does Dock Party request microphone access?

The music visualizer requires microphone access to sync the visuals to your music, but the microphone input is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. You can choose to deny microphone access, and the basic playback features will continue to function normally. But is it really a dock party without the pretty lights?
